Introduction to Language Access Plans

Types of Language Services

A language access plan refers to the 2 primary forms of language services:

  1. Interpretation: Focuses on verbal or oral communication
  2. Translation: Focuses on written communication

You may hear the terms interpretation and translation used interchangeably, but they’re different and require different skill sets.
