Introduction to Language Access Plans

Do You Need a Language Access Plan?

You should consider creating a language access plan if your organization serves people with limited English proficiency and especially if your organization:

  • Receives federal funds
  • Is accredited

Language access plans aren’t required by law. But they can help organizations meet regulations about providing language services and effective communication in the Affordable Care Act, Executive Order 13166, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
