Procedure Coding:
Using the ICD-10-PCS

Code Structure

ICD-10-PCS codes have 7 characters.

Individual units for each character are called values and are represented by a letter or number. The 34 possible values for each character consist of:

  • Letters A-H, J-N, and P-Z
  • Numbers 0-9

To avoid confusion with the numbers 0 and 1, the codes don’t use the letters O and I.

0LB50ZZ is the procedure code for Excision of right lower arm and wrist tendon, open approach.
