Excludes Notes

Excludes2 Note

A type 2 Excludes note represents “Not included here.” An Excludes2 note shows that the condition excluded isn’t part of the condition represented by the code, but a patient may have both conditions at the same time. When an Excludes2 note appears under a code, it's acceptable to use both the code and the excluded code together.

The Excludes2 note in this example shows that the code for dermatitis due to ingested food can also be reported with the code for dermatitis due to food in contact with skin.
