Please go forward with recommendations that screening for STI's and HIBC to prevent them be fully covered. As a pediatrician, I can see the long-term effects that STI's can have on women, and to prevent them and treat them early will really improve people's lives.

I strongly urge CMS to adopt this policy covering STD screenings and counseling for at-risk patients. As a maternal-child nurse working in a community health setting, everyday I see the great need for more and better STI screening and counseling. This change can only lead to a better-informed and healthier population.

Comment:

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) appreciates the CMS effort to improve prevention of sexually transmitted infections. We strongly support the proposal to cover the cost of appropriate screening and counseling. However, we are very concerned that CMS is proposing to limit coverage of counseling to only two individual 20 to 30 minute sessions. This is completely inconsistent with the USPSTF recommendations. Only one study that the USPSTF reviewed concluded
