Electrodiagnostic Sensory Nerve Conduction Threshold

CAG-00106N

Issue

Sensory Nerve Conduction Threshold (sNCT) testing is performed to evaluate and document a variety of sensory neuropathological conditions. This test is a non-invasive test used to evaluate patients with a suspected diagnosis of sensory nerve dysfunction. This test objectively detects and quantifies sensory neurophathies by independently assessing the conduction of all 3 major sub-populations of sensory nerve fibers.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has been asked to evaluate available evidence and determine whether current literature supports the clinical use of sNCT and determine whether this test would be considered "reasonable and necessary" for the Medicare population.
