Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:

This email contains several important reminders and announcements. Please review the entire email carefully.

CMS reminds Submitters of the scheduled installation of the HETS R2022Q100 release. Please note that this installation will cause an outage to the Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system.  The HETS R2022Q100 Release is scheduled to be installed beginning at 8:00 AM ET on Saturday, March 12, 2022.  The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during the installation. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 system will result in errors. CMS now estimates that the installation will be complete and verified by 5:00 PM ET on Saturday, March 12, 2022. MCARE will notify all HETS submitters when the installation is complete and verified.

The HETS R2022Q100 system release will introduce potential changes to both the HETS 270 request and the HETS 271 response.  HETS 270/271 Submitters should carefully review the linked documentation for more information.

CMS previously communicated that while HETS will begin supporting PPV HCPCS codes 90671 and 90677 effective with this release, prior usage data for these services would not be available until the second quarter of 2022.  MCARE will provide email updates when PPV data for HCPCS codes 90671 and 90677 begins returning in the HETS 271 eligibility response.

Additionally, CMS announces that prior usage data for these new services will not be immediately available following the R2022Q100 release:

  • Influenza (Flu) Vaccination Data (Service Type Code 'CO') and
  • Cognitive Assessment and Care Plan Data (Service Type Code 'BD')

MCARE will provide email updates once this short delay for Flu and Cognitive upstream data is resolved.

Please contact the MCARE Help Desk if you have any questions or comments.
