Section 2702 - The State of Iowa Commerce – Iowa Insurance Division will conduct a market scan of the State’s individual health insurance market to ensure that approved products are appropriately offered for purchase, health care coverage is comprehensive and affordable, and to explore innovative measures to strengthen the type of coverage provided and improve access to coverage. Iowa will hire consultants to develop a market analysis/market scan to improve and expand the number of current healthcare coverage options. The market analysis/market scan will provide detailed simulation modeling to refine current estimates of the population that will likely access coverage in Iowa, as well as identify key information about the demographics of Iowa’s marketplace to attract other health insurance issuers to enter the individual market in Iowa and restore stability to Iowa’s individual health insurance market.
