Section 2726 --The Maryland Insurance Administration will create Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) surveys, solicit feedback from stakeholders, and compile and analyze responses. The final step of the survey project will be to complete a summary letter of the survey results for the Maryland General Assembly. The results will also be shared with the Governor’s task forces to foster communication and combat heroin and opioid addiction. The Maryland Insurance Administration will also examine efforts by other States to ensure compliance with MHPAEA, with the goal of improving Maryland’s own efforts. The Maryland Insurance Administration will also draft administrative orders, as needed, to those companies who are not complying with the requirements of MHPAEA. Finally, Maryland will evaluate the feasibility of future reporting requirements for health insurance issuers to ensure compliance with MHPAEA.
