HETS 270/271

Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:

CMS advises all 270/271 Submitters that HETS has been available and working as designed yesterday 1/1/2025 and today 1/2/2025.  CMS is aware that multiple HETS Submitters are notifying their customers that HETS is unavailable due to error responses being received from HETS.  Please note any such communications are incorrect; HETS is and has been available and functioning per design at all times.

As announced in the HETS2024-4 Release Summary and Companion Guides, as well as the prior email announcements going back to mid November 2024 - HCPCS codes G0106 and G0120 were terminated as valid codes effective 1/1/2025.  Any Submitters that have sent HCPCS code G0106 and/or G0120 on or after 1/1/2025 are receiving a 999 response.  This 999 is an appropriate response for any invalid HCPCS code.  As noted in HETS2024-4 external documentation and multiple email announcements — HETS Submitters must modify their list of submitted HCPCS codes in their 270 request to remove G0106 and G0120 in order to receive a proper 271 response.

Please contact the MCARE Help Desk if you have any questions or comments.
