Visitation at Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs) and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs) - Coronavirus Disease -2019 (COVID-19)

• CMS is committed to continuing to take critical steps to ensure America’s healthcare facilities are prepared to respond to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Public Health Emergency (PHE). • Visitation Guidance: CMS is issuing new guidance for visitation in ICF/IIDs and PRTFs during the COVID-19 PHE. The guidance below provides ways an ICF/IID and PRTF can more safely facilitate in-person visitation and address the psychosocial needs of clients/residents. • Coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health departments - We encourage all ICF/IIDs and PRTFs to monitor the CDC website for information and resources and contact their health department when needed (CDC Resources for Health Care Facilities: Management of Visitors to Healthcare Facilities in the Context of COVID-19: Non-US Healthcare Settings | CDC).
