  1. FY 2019 Hospital Wage Index Development Time Table (PDF) : Updated December 14, 2017: Contains new deadlines for data corrections made by CMS after the January Public Use File (as finalized in the FY 2018 IPPS Final Rule); Provides a date range for when the January 2018 Public Use File will be posted. 
  2. Extension for hurricane affected areas for hospitals to request revisions to and provide documentation for their FY 2015 Worksheet S-3 wage data and CY 2016 occupational mix data: Regarding the FY 2019 wage index, CMS is modifying the September 1, 2017 deadline specified in the FY 2019 Hospital Wage Index Development Time Table for these hospitals to request revisions to and provide documentation for their FY 2015 Worksheet S-3 wage data and CY 2016 occupational mix data as included in the May 18, 2017 and July 12, 2017 preliminary PUFs, respectively.  CMS is currently granting an extension for hospitals in the States of Texas and Louisiana until October 2, 2017.  MACs must receive the revision requests and supporting documentation by this date.  If hospitals encounter difficulty meeting this extended deadline of October 2, 2017, hospitals should communicate their concerns to CMS via their MAC, and CMS may consider an additional extension if CMS determines it is warranted. 
  3. FY 2019 Preliminary Wage Index PUF (ZIP) : Contains the FY 2019 preliminary Worksheet S-3 wage data from FY 2015 cost reports.
  4. FY 2019 Preliminary Occupational Mix PUF (ZIP) : Contains the preliminary occupational mix surveys using Calendar Year 2016 data collected from pay periods ending between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016.
  5. FY 2019 Wage Index Pension Cost Spreadsheet Overview & Instructions (ZIP) : Contains a PDF with guidelines and two spreadsheets to assist hospitals and FIs/MACs in developing pension costs for the FY 2019 wage index. One spreadsheet is for prefunded amounts. One spreadsheet is for the three year average pension costs.
  6. FY 2019 February 2, 2018 Wage Index PUFs (ZIP) : Contains the following: January worksheet S-3 cost report wage data, calendar year 2016 occupational mix survey data, January deleted Worksheet S-3 cost report wage data and January deleted occupational mix data.

  10. Lugar Hospitals in Counties that Qualify for an Outmigration Adjustment for FY 2019 (ZIP) : Beginning with FY 2010, this table lists each Lugar hospital (deemed urban under section 1886(d)(8)(B) of the Act) that is located in a county that qualifies for an outmigration adjustment; the 3-year period for which the hospital is eligible for the outmigration adjustment; and whether or not the hospital accepted the outmigration adjustment in lieu of its urban status for each year of its 3-year eligibility. Please note that in the FY 2012 IPPS final rule, CMS finalized a policy that allows a Lugar hospital that is eligible for and accepts the outmigration adjustment to automatically waive its urban status for the 3-year period for which the outmigration adjustment is effective.
