  1. FY 2022 Hospital Wage Index Development Time Table (PDF) - Updated 04/13/2021: May 28, 2021 is the deadline for hospitals to submit correction requests to both CMS and their MAC to correct errors due to CMS or MAC mishandling of the final wage and occupational mix data as posted in the April 30, 2021 PUF. As stated in the FY 2022 Hospital Wage Index Development Timetable (see https://www.cms.gov/files/document/fy-2022-hospital-wage-index-development-time-table.pdf (PDF) ), hospitals are required to submit an electronic copy and a hard copy of their appeal requests to CMS and their MAC by May 28, 2021. To accommodate hospital staff who are working on urgent COVID-19 related matters, CMS is not requiring hospitals to submit hard copies of their appeal requests for the FY 2022 wage index; hospitals are only required to submit to CMS and their MAC the electronic copies of their appeal requests by May 28, 2021. As stated in the FY 2022 Hospital Wage Index Development Timetable, appeals shall be sent electronically at wageindexreview@cms.hhs.gov. Email files shall not exceed 20 megabytes; to comply with the size limit for larger files, hospitals may either send their appeals with attachments in separate emails (e.g., note in the subject line “sending 1 of 3,” “sending 2 of 3,” “sending 3 of 3” etc.), or hospitals may use a Dropbox download service and include the link to the Dropbox in the email to CMS and the MAC.
  2. FY 2022 Preliminary Wage Index PUF (ZIP): Contains the FY 2022 preliminary Worksheet S-3 wage data from FY 2018 cost reports. See description tab for complete details. Note: As noted above, hospitals have until September 3, 2020 to complete the CY 2019 occupational mix surveys and submit the data to their MAC(s) by COB September 3, 2020, with revisions due no later than September 10, 2020. See timeline for complete details.
  3. FY 2022 Preliminary September Occupational Mix PUF (ZIP): Contains the preliminary Occupational Mix Survey data from CY 2019.  Note: As noted in the FY 2022 Wage Index Development Time Table, hospitals have until September 10, 2020 to request revisions to their occupational mix data as included in the occupational mix preliminary PUF, and to provide documentation to support the request. MACs must receive the revision requests and supporting documentation by this date.

  8. Lugar Hospitals in Counties that Qualify for an Outmigration Adjustment for FY 2022:
    Note: This file will no longer be displayed as all relevant information is now listed in the FY 2022 Proposed Table 2.
    This file lists each Lugar hospital (deemed urban under section 1886(d)(8)(B) of the Act) that is located in a county that qualifies for an outmigration adjustment; the 3-year period for which the hospital is eligible for the outmigration adjustment; and whether or not the hospital accepted the outmigration adjustment in lieu of its urban status for each year of its 3-year eligibility. Please note that in the FY 2012 IPPS final rule, CMS finalized a policy that allows a Lugar hospital that is eligible for and accepts the outmigration adjustment to automatically waive its urban status for the 3-year period for which the outmigration adjustment is effective.
  9. FY 2022 April 30, 2021 Wage Index PUFs (ZIP): As of April 30, 2021, this file contains the FY 2022 Worksheet S-3 cost report wage data, Calendar Year 2019 Occupational Mix survey data, deleted Worksheet S-3 cost report wage data, and deleted occupational mix survey data.
