CMS has begun an effort to modernize the Provider Specific File. We need your feedback to ensure we are not changing or breaking something you use or care about. We also want to improve your experience! No ask is too small.
Please email ModernizingMedicare@cms.hhs.gov with the subject line "Provider Specific File Feedback" with your comments or suggestions. The team will only respond to messages related to the Provider Specific File.

To export specific historic PSF data, please navigate to the Provider Data Service (PDS) Site and utilize the user-friendly filtering options to narrow the data.

Follow the link to the Provider Data Service – Data Dictionary to learn about each field for both Inpatient and Outpatient PSF. For more information, please click on the link in the ‘Related Links’ at the bottom. Please skip to page 354 in the documentation for more details about each field.
NOTE: The field names for the CSV files are different than what is described in the Addendum. Please double check the descriptions in both the PDS Site’s data dictionary and documentation in ‘Related Links’ to ensure you are examining the correct field.
