CMS Comprehensive Addiction & Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA) Stakeholder Teleconference Meeting
Section 704 of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA) authorizes a program to prevent prescription drug abuse in Medicare Parts C and D. Specifically, this section allows for a drug management program for “at-risk” beneficiaries for prescription drug abuse. Beneficiaries subject to the requirements of the drug management program may have their access to prescribers and pharmacies limited for frequently abused drugs. The teleconference gathered input from stakeholders prior to rulemaking on important topics that will significantly influence the implementation of this program.
