Webinar: VBID Model - Health Equity Incubation Program Webinar: Advancing Health Equity in Diabetes Care and Outcomes

The Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Model team at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and national leaders led a discussion on how VBID flexibilities are being leveraged to improve care and outcomes for enrollees with diabetes at the webinar event of the Health Equity Incubation Program on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 3-4:30 PM ET.

This event, the second in our series of Heath Equity Incubation Program (HEIP) webinars, began with an overview of the vital need and opportunity to improve care and outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries with diabetes as a means to improve health equity and beneficiary experience, and to prevent the burdensome and costly progression of complications. The session started with a presentation by national experts highlighting the trends, economic and health burdens, and evidence-based strategies to improve glucose control and medication adherence, including meeting social needs related to food and nutritional security, transportation and drug affordability. Next, the VBID Model team summarized how flexibilities in the VBID Model can be used to improve care and meet the health-related needs of enrollees with diabetes, providing concrete examples. The Webinar also featured a panel of leaders from Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs) who discussed their programmatic strategies, successes and challenges in using VBID flexibilities to improve care and outcomes for their enrollees with diabetes. Following the panel discussion, the session concluded with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.

All were welcome to attend, and we issued a special invitation to you, your leadership and staff in the areas of diabetes management, health equity, care management, product development, and finance to join us for this exciting discussion! Details about the webinar can be found below.
