Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters and Interested Parties:
CMS currently has a moratorium in place that prohibits the addition of new Clearinghouse or Third Party Vendor (TPV) submitters to the Medicare HETS 270/271 system.
CMS announces that effective immediately, the moratorium on new HETS 270/271 Clearinghouse submitters has been lifted. Clearinghouse type organizations (clearinghouses, billing services, etc.) that represent current, authorized Medicare providers or suppliers are now permitted to apply for access to the Medicare HETS 270/271 system. New Clearinghouse submitters must comply with all CMS policies and requirements and must agree to the standard HETS 270/271 Trading Partner Agreement.
Interested parties should review the information available on the CMS HETS Help website to ensure complete understanding of the technical requirements of this system (including the required connectivity to the Medicare Data Center Network (MDCN) via AT&T Global Network Service (AGNS) connection). Prospective submitters should also review the current HETS 270/271 Companion Guide for specific information about the data that is returned in HETS 271 eligibility responses to ensure it meets the submitter's needs. Complete information is available at: /HETSHelp
CMS' moratorium on new HETS 270/271 Third Party Vendor submitters will remain in place indefinitely.
