Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:
The HETS 270/271 system has historically responded to most eligibility requests in less than 5 seconds. Recently, average response times have increased during peak processing intervals (approximately 8:00 AM " 2:00 PM ET Monday - Friday). CMS is aware of the situation and is working diligently to improve these response times. In the interim, submitters may notice average response times of up to 15 seconds during peak processing intervals. Please remember that the HETS 270/271 system will wait 60 seconds before returning a 271 AAA03=42 time out response.
Submitters that have the capacity to do so may want to re-schedule their HETS 270 eligibility submissions to non-peak processing intervals.
