Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:
CMS is planning two upcoming HETS 270/271 system releases which will impact HETS 270/271 Submitters.
The HETS R2017Q400 Release will introduce several changes to the HETS 271 response. CMS has published a HETS 270/271 R2017Q400 Release Summary in anticipation of this release. CMS urges all HETS submitters to use this R2017Q400 Release Summary and the upcoming amended HETS 270/271 Companion Guide to prepare for this important upcoming release.

The R2017Q400 release is currently scheduled for November 4, 2017. Submitters will be notified when additional information is available regarding this release.
Additionally, CMS is also planning an important upcoming release that will go into effect on April 1, 2018. The HETS New Medicare Card Project Release introduces several changes to the HETS 270 request and 271 response transactions. These changes include the option to begin submitting the Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) instead of a HICN on a HETS 270 request. CMS encourages all HETS Submitters to migrate their systems to submit the MBI as soon as the new Medicare card and number is available. CMS has published a HETS 270/271 New Medicare Card Project Release Summary in anticipation of this release. CMS urges all HETS Submitters to use this New Medicare Card Project Release Summary and the upcoming amended HETS 270/271 Companion Guide to prepare for this important upcoming release.
