Medicare HETS UI Internet Eligibility Users:
CMS announces that it has extended the availability of the HETS UI Internet Eligibility system until Friday, February 14, 2014. Regardless of this extension, HETS UI Internet Eligibility users still need to take immediate action to transition to new upcoming eligibility solutions. Please determine who your local MAC is and then review the information below.
Cahaba GBA
Cahaba GBA now offers a comparable internet-based Medicare eligibility portal to its providers. Providers should urgently contact Cahaba GBA (if you have not already) and obtain access. As part of this process, Cahaba GBA will send a letter via USPS mail. Please note - it is the provider's responsibility to ensure this action is completed in a timely manner. Once your organization has completed the enrollment process, you should migrate your staff's eligibility usage to the Cahaba GBA internet portal immediately. CMS and Cahaba GBA are working together and will deactivate organization's HETS UI accounts once they have completed the enrollment process. CMS expects all Cahaba GBA providers to complete these steps as soon as possible and plans to remove all current Cahaba GBA providers from the HETS UI application no later than Friday, February 14, 2014.
Novitas
Novitas providers will continue using HETS UI until Friday, February 14, 2014 or until a date specified by CMS and Novitas. CMS and/or Novitas will contact impacted Novitas HETS UI submitter organizations at the appropriate time. These organizations should be prepared to follow all provided instructions in an expeditious manner.
System Outage Notification
CMS announces an outage to the HETS UI Internet Eligibility system on Saturday, February 1, 2014. The maintenance window will begin at 8:00 AM ET on Saturday, February 1, 2014. The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during this period. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 application will result in errors. CMS estimates that the maintenance window will be completed by 12:00 PM (Noon) ET on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
