Evaluation of the Medicare Care Management Performance Demonstration

The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Medicare Care Management Performance (MCMP) Demonstration as mandated by section 649 of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003. The evaluation includes a comprehensive case study component to examine issues pertaining to the implementation and operational experiences of the participating practices. The evaluation contractor will conduct various statistical analyses of secondary data, including individual beneficiary-level data, to examine issues related to quality-of-care and impacts on the use and costs of services. Primary data are being collected through interviews of key personnel at participating practices and interviews with beneficiaries and physicians.
