Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:
This email contains several important announcements pertinent to HETS 270/271 Medicare eligibility. Please review the entire email carefully.
HETS Desktop (HDT) users will be unable to add, edit or delete any HETS Submitter/NPI relationships from April 20-23, 2022. HDT users will be able to sign into the existing HDT application during this period but will note that the typical functionality to add, edit or delete Submitter/NPI relationships is offline. This includes HDT Batch functionality. HETS Submitters will not be able to add, edit or delete any relationships during this period. After the HAA migration, HDT users will utilize a new URL (listed below) to access HDT and resume adding, editing, or deleting HETS Submitter/NPI relationships.
CMS will not be able to assign HETS Submitter ID numbers or process Trading Partner Agreement updates during the same April 20-23, 2022 window. This includes adding new digital certificates or making originating IP address changes to our operational security groups. If your Submitter organization needs to process any type of Trading Partner Agreement update, we recommend you do that well before the April 20-23, 2022 window. CMS also reminds all SOAP and MIME Submitters that we strongly recommend that Trading Partners submit any changes to your digital certificate and/or originating IP address at least 30 days in advance.
CMS will migrate HETS 270/271 to its HETS Active/Active (HAA) implementation on Saturday, April 23, 2022. This migration will cause an outage of the Medicare HETS 270/271 eligibility system. The HAA migration will begin at 7:30 AM ET on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The HETS 270/271 system will be unavailable during this period. Attempts to open a connection to the HETS 270/271 application will result in errors. CMS estimates that the maintenance window will be completed by 5:00 PM ET on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
HETS Submitters that connect via SOAP or MIME must redirect their HETS traffic to a new destination URL during the specified outage window on Saturday, April 23, 2022. CMS will communicate additional instructions directly to HETS SOAP and MIME submitters. Failure to redirect your HETS traffic during this window will result in not being able to use HETS 270/271 for Medicare eligibility.
HETS Submitters that connect to HETS 270/271 via a secure TCP/IP connection (typically using a HETS Authorized Connectivity Vendor) should coordinate with your vendor to determine next steps. Failure to redirect your HETS traffic during this window will result in not being able to use HETS 270/271 for Medicare eligibility.
Following the HAA migration, HETS Desktop (HDT) users must utilize a new URL ( https://HDT.hetsp-haa.cms.gov ) to access the HDT tool.
Updated versions of the HETS 270/271 SOAP/MIME Connectivity Guide and the HDT User Guide are available below to reflect URL changes related to the HAA migration. CMS urges all HETS Submitters to prepare for this migration.
