Medicare HETS 270/271 Submitters:
The HETS 270/271 MBI transition period ended (as scheduled) on December 31, 2019. The Medicare HETS 270/271 system now requires MBI (and MBI only) on eligibility requests. All requests that are being sent to HETS with a Medicare HICN as the member ID will receive no better than a 271 2100C AAA/03=72 response with no benefit information.
CMS will continue to monitor HETS performance and HETS Submitter behavior closely. As discussed during MCARE's MBI outreach campaign, Submitters that are receiving a high volume of 271 2100C AAA/03=72 responses should cease sending HICNs and utilize MBIs instead.
