- Among Medicare beneficiaries living in the community in 2023, 8 percent had limited English speaking proficiency and 7 percent had limited English reading proficiency.
- Asian and Hispanic beneficiaries were more likely to have limited English speaking proficiency than White non-Hispanic or Black non-Hispanic beneficiaries. Approximately 49 percent of Asian beneficiaries and 55 percent of Hispanic beneficiaries had limited English speaking proficiency, compared with 1 percent and 2 percent among White non-Hispanic and Black non-Hispanic beneficiaries, respectively.
- Asian and Hispanic beneficiaries were also more likely to have limited English reading proficiency compared with White non-Hispanic and Black non-Hispanic beneficiaries.
