Data Analytics and Systems Group (DASG)
DASG serves as CMS’s primary focal point for data analytics and systems that prevent fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid. DASG’s systems and analytical services help to detect and prevent bad actors from exploiting these programs.
DASG is part of the CMS Center for Program Integrity.
DASG has developed a suite of systems that:
- Screen providers who serve Medicare beneficiaries
- Monitor billing activity and coordinate investigative actions with program integrity partners
- Promote a more transparent health care system by making the financial relationships between the health care industry and health care providers public
DASG provides research as well as statistical and data analyses for program integrity issues in the Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Fee-for-Service, and Prescription Drug Plan programs. Through advanced analytics, DASG identifies emerging fraud trends. This includes:
- Subject matter expert collaboration
- Data mining
- Advanced analytical techniques such as behavioral, network, predictive and machine learning analyses to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse
