Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a State-Federal program offering free or low-cost health coverage for eligible children and other family members. Best Practices in Serving AI/AN Populations

To identify the best ways to conduct outreach and enrollment for Medicaid and CHIPRA among AI/AN children and families, CMS created a report on best practices in serving AI/AN populations. The study asked IHS, tribal, and urban CHIPRA grantees, state agencies, and Indian health programs who are not CHIPRA grantees about what practices had been successful for them. Findings in the report discuss barriers to access, enrollment strategies, tribal-state collaborations, and overall best practices.
